Kathleen Stoessel, MD, is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Yale School of Medicine. She serves as Director of the Retina Fellowship Program and leads the Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) program at Yale-New Haven Hospital, focusing on retinal evaluations and laser treatments for premature infants.
Her clinical and research interests span retinal disorders, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, sickle cell retinopathy, and pediatric retinal evaluation. She is a co-investigator for the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC) Trial.
Dr. Stoessel’s research focuses on laser treatment efficacy for ROP and retinal complications in systemic diseases. Her awards include the 2022 Yale Medicine Distinguished Clinician Award.
