Kathleen D. Lyons

Kathleen D. Lyons, ScD, OTR/L is a Professor of Occupational Therapy and Director of the Cancer Rehabilitation (CaRe) Lab at the MGH Institute of Health Professions. Her research focuses on evidence-based interventions for cancer survivors, emphasizing participant-directed approaches to improve functional recovery and quality of life. Dr. Lyons holds a ScD in Therapeutic Studies from Boston University, and her work is funded by organizations like the American Cancer Society and National Cancer Institute.

Education: BS and MS in Occupational Therapy (University of NH), ScD in Therapeutic Studies (Boston University).

Research Interests: Cancer rehabilitation, psycho-oncology, intervention development, mixed-methods research, implementation science, and interprofessional collaboration. The CaRe Lab prioritizes reducing disability and enhancing well-being for individuals affected by cancer through evidence-based practice.

Recent work includes multi-site clinical trials for breast cancer survivors, thematic analyses of employment challenges, and home-based interventions for older adults with cancer. Her articles reflect interdisciplinary approaches to improving survivorship outcomes.
