Katherine Chau Rohn

Katherine Chau Rohn is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at the Neag School of Education, University of Connecticut. Her research focuses on college student development, experiential education, and the intersection of social media use with adolescent mental health. She previously served as a K-12 urban educator and administrator. Dr. Rohn employs participant-centered qualitative methods to study effective educational practices and interventions.

Her research explores how social media impacts student well-being, the efficacy of school-based interventions for digital literacy, and the role of outdoor experiential education in fostering student resilience. Dr. Rohn co-developed the 360 diary method, a mixed-methods approach integrating social media data with interviews and audio diaries to assess student experiences.

She currently serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Experiential Education and Co-Chair of the Symposium on Experiential Education Research. Her work emphasizes equity in educational program design and addressing systemic barriers to student success.
