Katherine Burge

Katherine Burge is an archaeologist specializing in the ancient Middle East and eastern Mediterranean. As a postdoctoral fellow for the History of Art Department during the 2024–2025 academic year, she will assist with installing the Kelsey Museum’s new permanent gallery, 'Crossroads of Culture, 400–1800.'

• PhD from the University of Pennsylvania
• Curatorial research associate at the Penn Museum
• Focus on urban societies, socioeconomic organization, and information recording in Bronze/Iron Age Mesopotamia
• Fieldwork in Turkey, Kurdistan, and Iraq
• Interest in colonialism, internationalism, and cultural heritage policy
