Katherine Borst Jones

Katherine Borst Jones is a Professor of Flute and Area Coordinator of Woodwinds at The Ohio State University (since 1985), housed in the School of Music. She is also a Visiting Professor at Shenyang Conservatory of Music, China. Her roles include leadership in flute pedagogy, ensemble conducting, and advocacy for new music.

Education:

• Master of Music, The Ohio State University

• Additional studies at Dartmouth College's Congregation of the Arts, Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute, and Savvy Musician Summer Workshop

Research and Performance:

• Pioneer in flute choir development, founding the Ohio State Flute Troupe and launching the KBJ Collection series
• Champion of new music through commissions by composers like Libby Larsen, Stephen Paulus, and Michael Daugherty
• Leadership roles in National Flute Association (twice president), Chamber Music Columbus (president), and advisory roles in Central Ohio Flute Association
