Kate Meng Brassel

Kate Meng Brassel is Assistant Professor of Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Her scholarship examines literary and philosophical intersections in early imperial Rome, focusing on textual materiality and satirical forms.

Research specializations include:

• Persius and Neronian satire
• Epictetus' philosophical discourse
• Senecan representations of gender
• Ancient book culture

She teaches Greek/Latin language courses and cross-disciplinary topics including race/ethnicity in antiquity and classical receptions in modern media.
