Kate Linnenberg

Kate Linnenberg is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Beloit College, specializing in the scholarship of teaching and learning with a focus on community-based learning (CBL). She teaches courses including Intro to Sociology, Social Statistics, Sociology of Sex & Gender, Families in Transition, Health/Medical Care & Society, and the Sociology Senior Capstone.

Her research emphasizes how CBL experiences in college influence post-graduation civic engagement and career preparation. She actively integrates CBL into courses like Sociology Senior Capstone (partnering with Community Action Inc.'s Fresh Start Program) and Families in Transition (collaborating with Defy Domestic Abuse Beloit).

She has been recognized with the prestigious Underkofler Teaching Award for her pedagogical excellence in cultivating sociological imagination and connecting classroom learning to real-world social structures.
