About
Dr. Kate Congreves is an Associate Professor and Jarislowsky & BMO Research Chair in Regenerative Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture and Bioresources, Department of Plant Sciences. Her work focuses on nitrogen cycling in crop systems, soil health, and regenerative agriculture. She employs advanced techniques like 15N isotopes and micrometeorological flux measurements to study N dynamics and greenhouse gas emissions.
Education: PhD in Land Resource Science (University of Guelph), B.Ed. and B.Sc. in Biology (Queen’s University).
Research interests include nitrogen use efficiency, crop diversification effects, soil N transformations, and sustainable N management strategies. Her lab emphasizes field-based agronomy and collaborative projects to advance regenerative agroecosystems.
Awards include the Jarislowsky Chair (2024–2028), USask Sustainability Fellowship (2022–2024), and multiple early-career recognitions. Her work bridges fundamental science with practical solutions for agricultural sustainability.
