Jon Warland

Dr. Jon Warland is a Professor and Associate Dean (Academic) at the Ontario Agricultural College, University of Guelph. His research focuses on agricultural meteorology, environmental instrumentation, and atmospheric turbulent transport dynamics.

• B.S. in Soil Science (1993), Cornell University

His work examines weather impacts on crop production, development of novel instrumentation for environmental monitoring, and turbulent dispersion theory in plant canopies. Research spans theoretical analysis, laboratory experiments, and field measurements across agricultural and forest ecosystems.

Recent publications address climate change effects on vegetation, greenhouse gas mitigation strategies, and urban thermal exposure modeling. Specialized in soil moisture freeze-thaw dynamics, crop phenology simulation, and carbon/nitrogen cycling in agroecosystems.

Jon leads a laboratory in Alexander Hall Room 113, focusing on scale interactions in climate models and adaptation strategies for complex terrain environments. He currently does not accept new graduate students.
