Kat Lord

Dr. Kat Lord is a Senior Lecturer in Education at Queen Margaret University's Psychology, Sociology and Education Division. With a PhD in Critical Engineering Pedagogy from Memorial University and PGDE qualification, her career spans Canadian higher education teaching, Scottish primary school instruction, and university leadership roles. She currently leads QMU's MA Education programme and its specialized pathways.

Her research examines education in resource-constrained environments, focusing on:

• Critical pedagogy challenging neoliberal education systems
• Arts-based wellbeing interventions (e.g., 'Sing for Wellbeing' project)
• Teacher mental health and parental complaint impacts
• Creative/play-based teaching methodologies

Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on teacher wellbeing during crises (particularly Covid-19), inclusive education frameworks, and innovative pedagogies. Her 2018-2023 outputs frequently intersect psychology, policy implementation, and arts integration.
