Dr Georgios Tsigkas is a Lecturer in the Division of Nursing and Paramedic Science at Queen Margaret University (QMU). Since January 2017, he has contributed to pre-registration nursing programmes, serving as Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Nursing and Master of Nursing courses since September 2020. He led the successful review and revalidation of these programmes in April 2024 and represents QMU on national committees to enhance nursing education standards.
Clinically, Dr Tsigkas specialises in emergency nursing care with extensive experience in Accident and Emergency and Acute Medical Units in Greece and the UK. His research focuses on HIV/AIDS care, social identity, coping strategies, and human agency, employing qualitative methods, critical realism, and abductive reasoning. He completed his PhD in 2025 with the dissertation 'Living and Coping with HIV-related Uncertainties: A Critical Realist Approach' and is a member of QMU's Centre for Person-centred Practice Research Centre.
