Prof. Karin van Wingerde is a Full Professor of Corporate Crime and Governance at the Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and serves as Dean of Education for the PhD programme at the Erasmus Graduate School of Law since January 2014. Her research focuses on regulatory enforcement, corporate and white-collar crime, bribery, health and safety violations, and the misuse of corporate vehicles for illicit finance. She is an academic research partner at the Dutch Gaming Authority (since 2016) and serves on the editorial boards of the Dutch journals on Regulation and Governance and Criminology.
Her PhD was awarded by Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2012. Key research themes include the deterrent effects of legal sanctions, enforcement mechanisms in waste industries, and interdisciplinary governance approaches. She has been reappointed to her professorship in 2025, emphasizing her contributions to corporate crime research.
Recent media engagement includes discussions on environmental crime victims (April 2025) and cocaine trafficking strategies in the Port of Rotterdam (March 2025).
