Karen Moran

Karen Moran is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of the Pacific, San Francisco. She is a board-certified music therapist specializing in mental health disorders, forensic hospital settings, and end-of-life care. Moran works at Napa State Hospital and has prior experience at Metropolitan State Hospital and in private practice.

Education: B.M. and M.A. in Music Therapy from the University of the Pacific.

Research interests focus on music therapy applications in forensic environments, palliative care, and clinical interventions for anger management and stress reduction. She has presented at conferences on topics such as songwriting in prison settings and the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music.

Moran supervises music therapy interns and participates in interdisciplinary teams for treatment planning. She actively contributes to committees addressing patient care and hospital needs.
