Kader Attia

Kader Attia is a Professor of Time-based Media at the Hochschule für bildende Künste (HFBK) Hamburg. Born in 1970 in Dugny, France, he was raised in suburban Paris and Algeria. He graduated from École Supérieure des Artes Appliqués Duperré (1993) and École Nationale Supéreure des Arts Décoratifs (1998). His artistic career includes solo exhibitions at institutions such as Hayward Gallery (2019), The Power Plant (2018), and Museum für Moderne Kunst (2016). He curated the 12th Berlin Biennale (2022) and co-founded La Colonie (2016–2020), a Parisian space for exhibitions and activism.

• Active in international biennials (Manifesta 12, Venice Biennale 2017, documenta 13).
• Engaged in artistic research contexts, including HFBK's PhD in Art Practice program, focusing on health concepts and social transformation.
• His practice explores themes of identity, cultural hybridity, and postcolonial narratives through installations and curatorial projects.
