Jörg Scheide

Jörg Scheide is a German music educator and brass instrumentalist currently serving as a lecturer at the Pedagogical University of Weingarten (PH Weingarten) since October 2023. His career spans over three decades in music education and performance, including leadership as Head of the Meckenbeuren Music School (2003-present) and teaching roles at music schools in Helmstedt, Tettnang/Meckenbeuren, and Bad Waldsee (1998-2003). He specializes in low and high brass instrument instruction and orchestral conducting.

• Education:
  • Diploma in orchestral music from Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre Leipzig (1988-1994)
  • Master class studies in trombone at the same institution (1995-1997) under Georg Fleischer and Jörg Richter
  • Improvisation course with Friedrich Schenker (1995-1998)

In addition to his educational roles, Scheide has been actively involved in professional orchestral and chamber music performance. He was a substitute trombonist at the Leipzig Opera (1991-1994) and held the position of principal trombonist with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra in New Zealand (1994-1995). Since 1990, he has participated in extensive chamber music activities, including trombone/organ duos, trombone quartets, and tuba quartets.
