Justin B. Hollander

Justin B. Hollander is a Professor at Tufts University's School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Planning Education and Research and directs the Urban Attitudes Lab, focusing on cognitive, health, and social dimensions of urban environments. His work integrates biometric tools, spatial data analytics, and shrinkage strategies in cities.

Hollander is a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners (2020) and recipient of the 2025 William R. and June Dale Prize. He contributes to media outlets such as The New York Times, NPR, and TIME Magazine, and hosts the Apple podcast Cognitive Urbanism.
