Edward J. Jepson, Jr.

Edward J. Jepson, Jr. is a Lecturer in the Urban Planning Program at the University of Kansas. He concurrently teaches online planning courses at the University of Oregon and Florida Atlantic University. Previously, he served as a professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Tennessee until its program termination in 2009. With over 30 years of experience, he has held roles as executive director of nonprofit development organizations, a community planning consultant, and maintains membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).

Dr. Jepson holds a Master of Regional Planning (MRP) from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His research focuses on sustainability planning, with teaching expertise in planning methods, economic development, planning theory, and environmental planning.

He co-authored Fundamentals of Plan Making (2nd edition), detailing planning analysis and comprehensive plan preparation. His work bridges academic and practical dimensions of urban development, emphasizing actionable strategies for sustainable communities.
