Mitchell Silver

Mitchell Silver is a Professor of the Practice in the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina. He currently serves as Principal and Vice President of Urban Planning at McAdams, with over 35 years of industry experience. He previously held leadership roles as Commissioner of New York City's Department of Parks and Recreation, President of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and President of the American Planning Association (APA). His expertise centers on land use and environmental planning, addressing sustainable urban development and policy.

Education: Master’s in Urban Planning from Hunter College (1993).

Research interests include land use policy, environmental sustainability, and the integration of public spaces into urban planning frameworks. His professional affiliations include McAdams, AICP, and APA.
