June Scudeler

Dr. June Scudeler is a Métis scholar and Assistant Professor in the Department of Indigenous Studies at Simon Fraser University (SFU), cross-appointed with the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. She holds a PhD in English from the University of British Columbia (2016), alongside B.A. and M.A. degrees in English from SFU. Her research explores intersections of queer Indigeneity, literature, film, and art, with a current focus on Indigenous horror narratives, particularly the Métis rougarou.

Her scholarly work appears in journals such as Native American and Indigenous Studies, American Indian Culture and Research Journal, and Canadian Literature. She has contributed book chapters to volumes like Queer Indigenous Studies: Critical Interventions in Theory, Politics and Literature and Performing Indigeneity. Her publications analyze Indigenous representation in art, literature, and performance, emphasizing decolonial and queer frameworks.

Scudeler co-edits the Salt Chuck City Review, an Indigenous literary journal based in Vancouver. Her research bridges creative and critical scholarship, addressing themes of identity, memory, and resistance in Indigenous contexts.
