Goldmann's research integrates digital humanities with traditional literary analysis, focusing on manuscript studies of early modern and medieval periods. His work bridges urban studies with literary representation, examining how cities function as narrative spaces in 20th-century literature. He explores intermedial relationships between visual art and text, particularly in revolutionary iconography and Dante reception. Contemporary Romance literature forms another pillar of his scholarship, with attention to translation theory and intertextual networks.
His publication trends reveal consistent engagement with German regional history (particularly Aschaffenburg), World War I literary representations, and spatial theory applications in Romance literatures. Recent works demonstrate growing emphasis on digital methodologies for historical document analysis, alongside continued exploration of literary heterotopias and transitional spaces.
Goldmann actively contributes to academic infrastructure through editorial roles. As co-founder and co-editor of promptus – Würzburger Beiträge zur Romanistik (2014-present) and Romanistische Dossiers (2024), he supports emerging scholars. His grant involvement includes DFG Project 'Arthurian Literature from the Duc de Nemours Library' (2025) and BMBF's 'Kallimachos II' digital humanities initiative (2017-2018).
