Julie Nguyen

Julie Nguyen is a Lecturer in Podiatry at CQUniversity (Rockhampton) within the School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences. She holds a Bachelor of Podiatry from La Trobe University and a Master of Public Health from the University of Melbourne, alongside a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary and Adult Education from CQUniversity. Her professional experience includes clinical roles in acute care, diabetes foot services, and public health initiatives such as the HealthLinks program.

Her research focuses on high-risk foot complications, diabetic foot care, telemedicine, digital health, and Indigenous health. She has coordinated multiple grants, including a $17,500 study on 3D-printed orthoses and a $24,200 project evaluating aging-in-place technologies. Awards include the Asia Bound Scholarship (2015) and CQUniversity Opal Awards (2017-2018).

• Committee Roles: Member of the Advanced Practicing Podiatry High Risk Foot Group (APP HRF) and CQUniversity Human Research Ethics Committee.
• Teaching: Unit coordinator for podiatry courses including Professional Podiatry Practice, Diabetes in Podiatry, and High-Risk Foot Care.
• Community Engagement: Led a multidisciplinary homeless initiative and provided podiatry services at Homeless Connect Expo. Also engaged in healthcare education in Vietnam through the Australian Vietnam Resource Group.
• Publications: Focus on orthotic biomechanics, telemedicine, and aging-in-place frameworks, with work featured in journals like Gait and Posture and Prosthetics and Orthotics International.
