About
Professor Julie Macpherson is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Warwick, where she leads the Warwick Electrochemistry and Interfaces Group. Her research focuses on application-driven themes in electrochemistry, materials science, and instrumental development. She is actively involved in the UK's first Collaborative Doctoral Training Centre in Diamond Science and Technology and maintains industry partnerships, notably through her Royal Society Industry Fellowship with Element Six (2014-2018).
Her research encompasses:
- Carbon-based material electrochemistry
- Boron-doped diamond sensors for healthcare/environment
- Metal nanostructure formation for sensing
- Electrochemical pollutant removal
- Electrosynthesis for chemical production
- Advanced analytical techniques
- Operando spectroelectrochemistry
She employs diverse methodologies including electrochemical analysis, electron microscopy (SEM/TEM), scanned probe microscopy, and advanced fabrication (3D printing, laser writing, lithography).
Major recognitions include:
- Royal Society Innovation Award (2017)
- Royal Society Industry Fellowship (2014-2018)
