Julie B. Kessler

Julie B. Kessler, Ph.D., serves as Associate Professor of Instruction in Teaching and Learning and Faculty Fellow at Temple University's Center for the Advancement of Teaching. With 40 years of experience in Special Education and Teacher Preparation, she has taught full-time at Temple since 2006, focusing on course development, curriculum programming, mentoring teaching assistants, and student advising within the College of Education and Human Development.

Her academic credentials include:

• B.S.Ed. in Elementary and Special Education from University of Delaware (Newark, DE)
• M.Ed. in Special Education with emphasis on Teaching Students with Low Incidence Disabilities from Temple University (Philadelphia, PA)
• Ph.D. in Special Education with emphasis on Evidence-Based Practices in Inclusive Educational Settings from Temple University (Philadelphia, PA)

Dr. Kessler's research centers on evidence-based inclusive education practices, teacher preparation for special education settings, and instructional methodologies for students with low-incidence disabilities. She coordinates Temple's New M.Ed./SPED online program through the Office of Digital Education, leveraging extensive experience across traditional, hybrid, and online teaching environments.

She advises all students in the M.Ed./SPED program and previously served as a lead special education teacher across diverse disability categories, age levels, and educational settings prior to joining Temple's faculty.
