Julia Ulber

Dr Julia Ulber serves as Senior Lecturer and Head of Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University, where she has held academic and leadership positions since 2018, including joint Psychology Lead since 2023. Previously, she was Lecturer in Developmental Psychology at the University of Kent.

Her educational background:

• PhD in Developmental and Comparative Psychology, Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Leipzig, Germany (2015), supervised by Professor Michael Tomasello

As a developmental psychologist, Dr Ulber specializes in early social development with research focusing on fairness and distributive justice in early childhood and the circumstances triggering children's sharing behavior. Her empirical work examines foundational social cognition mechanisms through controlled behavioral studies, building on theoretical frameworks from evolutionary anthropology.

Dr Ulber has held significant administrative responsibilities including course directorship for BSc (Hons) Psychology and currently shapes curriculum development through her joint Psychology Lead role.
