Julia Tjus

Prof. Julia Tjus holds the W3 Professorship for Plasma Astroparticle Physics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), Germany. She leads research at the interface of plasma physics, particle physics, and astrophysics, focusing on cosmic ray origins and neutrino detection via experiments like IceCube. She coordinates the Ruhr Astroparticle and Plasma Physics Center (RAPP Center) since 2016 and served as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy (2019-2021).

Her research investigates cosmic ray acceleration mechanisms, neutrino production, and plasma turbulence. Collaborations include TU Dortmund (hadron physics) and plasma physics groups at RUB. She has secured grants from DFG, BMBF, and DAAD, including ongoing projects in astroparticle physics.

Awards include the 2015 Young Scientist Award and early-career recognition from TU Dortmund. She actively contributes to academic governance as a DFG review board member and deputy spokesperson.
