About
Jun.-Prof. Julia Lieb is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Discrete Mathematics Group at TU Ilmenau since September 2023. She holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Würzburg (2017), with a dissertation focusing on polynomial matrices in coding theory and discrete-time linear systems. Her postdoctoral research included DFG-funded projects at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) and the University of Zurich, followed by a substitute professorship in discrete mathematics at the University of Passau.
Her research focuses on coding theory, particularly convolutional codes, quasi-cyclic codes, and LDPC codes, with applications in error-correction for data transmission and post-quantum cryptography. She explores connections between coding theory and discrete-time linear systems, aiming to develop advanced code constructions and decoding algorithms.
Current affiliations include leading the Discrete Mathematics Group at TU Ilmenau, where her work bridges theoretical foundations in algebra and discrete mathematics with practical applications in cryptography and communication systems.
