Julia Lavid López is a Full Professor of English Linguistics at Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) since 2006. She has served as Chair of the Department of English Philology (2010-2014) and currently directs the Institute of Modern Languages and Translators at UCM. Her career spans leadership in research, teaching, and editorial roles, with international collaborations in the USA and Europe.
Her research focuses on functional and contrastive analysis of English and Spanish discourse, utilizing computational and corpus-based methodologies. She leads the consolidated research group FUNCAP, rated as EXCELLENT by Spain’s State Research Agency, and has participated in EU-funded projects and networks.
Julia has authored over 90 publications, including nine books and 60+ peer-reviewed articles, alongside editorial contributions as co-editor-in-chief of the Complutense Journal of English Studies and advisory roles for international journals and publishers. Her work extends to evaluating research projects for national and international agencies.
