Dr. Julia King is a Professor of Anthropology at St. Mary's College of Maryland, holding the George B. and Willma Reeves Endowed Chair. Her research focuses on historical archaeology of the Chesapeake region, particularly Indigenous history, colonialism, and landscape archaeology. With over 30 years of experience, she directs the SlackWater Project and studies historical archaeology through material culture analysis.
Her archaeological investigations examine colonial encounters and Indigenous cultural landscapes in Southern Maryland. Recent publications reflect her expertise in material culture, public commemoration, and cross-regional comparative methodologies.
