Julia Fredriksson

Julia Fredriksson serves as program manager for Architecture and works as a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Urban Planning, Chalmers University of Technology. She has been active in academia since defending her doctoral thesis in 2014 and maintains an active research profile focused on urban development and planning processes.

Her research centers on municipal and regional planning processes with particular emphasis on power perspectives and social sustainability. Dr. Fredriksson investigates how urbanization and regionalization processes shape planning frameworks, examines how conflicts between different social groups' needs in public spaces are resolved, and analyzes migration patterns of newly arrived populations in the Västra Götaland region. Her doctoral work, "Constructions of a city center: Spatial power relations of the post-industrial city," established her expertise in the intersection of urban development and power dynamics.

Julia teaches urban planning courses at both bachelor's and master's levels and serves as thesis supervisor and examiner for engineering and architecture students. Her educational approach integrates theoretical knowledge with practical planning challenges, preparing students for professional practice in the built environment fields.
