Juli Jackson

Juli Jackson is an Assistant Professor of Film Production in the Department of Theatre & Film at the University of Mississippi, College of Liberal Arts. They are a filmmaker and media artist whose work explores the transformative power of art and creativity.

Juli Jackson holds a B.F.A. in Film from the University of the Arts and an M.F.A. in Film and Media Arts from Temple University.

Their creative research focuses on experimental narrative forms, blending live action with hand-painted animation and integrating music—particularly garage rock—into storytelling. Their work emphasizes screenwriting and directing techniques that merge scientific themes with folklore and personal history. Jackson's artistic practice investigates how creativity can profoundly impact individuals and communities.

Jackson’s acclaimed feature film 45RPM has won 13 festival awards and is distributed internationally by BrinkVision. They are currently developing a TV series titled Delta, inspired by their upbringing in rural Arkansas, which uniquely combines agricultural science with historic and folkloric narratives.

Jackson teaches advanced courses in sound design, postproduction, directing for the screen, and special topics in film production. They are actively engaged in creative development and mentorship within the film program at Ole Miss.

Jackson’s work is exhibited and screened internationally, reflecting a strong trajectory in independent and experimental filmmaking with interdisciplinary reach.
