Julie Wyman is an Associate Professor of Cinema and Digital Media at the University of California, Davis, affiliated with the College of Letters and Science. She holds an M.F.A. in Visual Studies from UC San Diego. Her work focuses on culturally constructed themes like body image, gender, and health, explored through documentary filmmaking. Key projects include Strong! (2012), which won the Independent Lens Audience Award, and The Tallest Dwarf (2025), examining dwarfism and identity. Wyman’s research is supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, CNN Films, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. She collaborates across disciplines, including a feminist experimental film with Margaret Laurena Kemp.
