Judith Spirig

Judith Spirig is a Lecturer in Political Science at University College London (UCL), with affiliations as an associated researcher at the University of Zurich and a faculty affiliate at the Immigration Policy Lab’s Zurich branch. She holds a PhD from the University of Zurich (2018), an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a BA from the University of Basel. Her research focuses on exclusionary attitudes (e.g., anti-immigration policies), judicial behavior, and collective memory, employing mixed-methods approaches including quasi-experimental and historical data analysis. Current projects include an ESRC-funded study on collective memory politics and analyses of asylum decision-making in Switzerland. She teaches courses on Globalisation and Populism, Quantitative Data Analysis at UCL, and the MACIS Master Thesis Colloquium at UZH.

Her work bridges political theory and empirical research, examining topics like media influence on immigration referendums, the impact of asylum salience on judicial rulings, and gender inequality in domestic labor. Notable publications include studies in Political Communication and the American Journal of Political Science. She is also co-founder of the PONYclub, a network supporting women in political science.
