Judith Brown

Professor Judith Brown is the Director of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music and Head of the Arts College within CQUniversity's School of Education and the Arts. She serves as Vice-President of the Academic Board and leads academic governance, teaching, and research initiatives. Her roles include overseeing university-wide academic policies and strategic research agendas in arts and education.

Education: Judith holds an EdD from CQUniversity, a Master of Arts Administration (MAA), Graduate Diploma in Education, and Honours Bachelor of Music. She is a Licentiate and Associate of the Australian Music Examinations Board (LMusA, AMusA).

Research Interests: Her work focuses on music and performing arts education, including pedagogical strategies, applied theatre for community engagement, collaborative performance practices, and the integration of technology in music education. She has published extensively in music education and creative arts fields.

Awards: Notable recognitions include the 2017 Order of Australia Medal for service to music education, a 2010 ALTC Citation, and multiple awards for her community engagement projects like the Choices Applied Theatre Project (winner of the Australian Financial Review Higher Education Award).

Advising & Grants: She supervises Masters and PhD students in music education and creative arts. Current projects include leadership roles in the Regional Arts Services Network (RASN) and philanthropic initiatives like the Choices and Safety Circus Applied Theatre Projects. She has secured over $992,000 in government grants for arts education.

Labs/Teams: She leads the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music and collaborates with the CREATE research centre. Her work emphasizes community partnerships, including collaborations with Queensland Police Service, Daniel Morecombe Foundation, and Arts Queensland.
