Judd Kinzley is Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, specializing in modern Chinese history with focus on natural resources and borderland development. He serves as Associate Chair of the History Department.
His research examines how natural resources shape state power in China's frontier regions, using material-centered approaches to analyze political economy and environmental history.
Recent publications explore resource politics in Xinjiang, Sino-Soviet energy relations, and infrastructure development in borderlands. His work combines archival research with spatial analysis of development patterns.
