Joyce Magalhaes

Joyce Magalhaes is an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) in the Department of Anesthesia at McMaster University. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying bone biology and reproductive endocrinology.

Research Interests: Dr. Magalhaes’s work explores the role of Rho GTPases in skeletal health, osteoclastogenesis, and hormonal regulation of myometrial contractions. Her studies integrate molecular biology, biomechanics, and animal models to address clinical challenges in osteoporosis and obstetrics.

Selected Publications: Recent contributions include investigations into Rac1 deletion in ovariectomy models (2011), Filamin A in osteoclastogenesis (2010), and oxytocin dynamics in pregnancy (2009). These reflect interdisciplinary approaches bridging bone biology and reproductive sciences.
