Sarah Arrowsmith

Dr. Sarah Arrowsmith is a Lecturer in Reproductive Science at Manchester Metropolitan University and Honorary Lecturer at the University of Liverpool. Her research focuses on uterine physiology and novel therapeutic interventions for labor complications.

Research Focus: Dr. Arrowsmith investigates oxytocin/vasopressin signaling pathways in myometrial contraction, hypoxic stress responses in labor, and nanomedicine approaches for tocolytic therapies. Her work combines electrophysiology, molecular biology, and pharmacological models to address preterm birth and labor dystocia.

Publications: Her research examines hypoxia-induced force generation in uterine tissue, pharmacological synergies between tocolytics, and gestational influences on uterine function. Recent work explores transcriptomic differences in singleton versus twin pregnancies.

Professional Engagement: Dr. Arrowsmith serves as journal editor for Ethnopharmacology and Cardiovascular Pharmacology, reviews for multiple high-impact journals, and holds memberships in Physiological Society, Society for Reproductive Investigation, and British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society.

Teaching: She leads postgraduate programs in Clinical Science/Embryology (NHS STP) and teaches reproductive endocrinology, infertility, and obstetric physiology across undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
