Dr. Joy Towner is the Education Department Chair and Professor at Judson University. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois, an M.S. in Reading Education from Northern Illinois University, and an Ed.D. in Literacy from Judson University. Her expertise includes literacy, adolescent and juvenile literature, and educational leadership.
She serves as a trained Reading Recovery teacher and has contributed to the educational field through her work on the 'Letter to Parents' segment in Sleeping Bear Press' Tugg and Teeny series. Dr. Towner actively engages in professional development, speaking at national literacy conferences and co-directing Judson’s Literacy in Motion Conference and A Day at Judson seminar series.
Her professional affiliations include the Illinois Reading Council (IRC), International Reading Association (IRA), National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), and Kappa Delta Pi (KDP).
