José Rifón Roca

Dr. José Rifón Roca serves as Associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Navarra's Faculty of Nursing and heads both the Hemopoietic Transplant Unit and Hematology Clinical Trials Unit at the University Clinic of Navarra Cancer Center across Pamplona and Madrid campuses.

His academic background includes a Medical Degree from the University of Cantabria (1985) and a PhD from the University of Navarra (1992), complemented by specialized training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Hemopoietic Transplant Unit.

Research focuses on acute/chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, and hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation, with clinical expertise spanning diagnosis, treatment protocols, and oncohematology innovations. His work bridges laboratory research with clinical applications in hematological malignancies.

As an educator, he has supervised four doctoral theses while tutoring medical students and hematology residents, teaching Internal Medicine and Oncology courses within the nursing faculty curriculum.
