Ignacio Ortego Zabalza

Dr. Ignacio Ortego Zabalza is a Medical Oncology Specialist currently affiliated with the University of Navarra Clinic (Pamplona), Clara Campal Comprehensive Cancer Center in Barcelona (HM Sanchinarro and HM Nou Delfos), and MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid. He serves as Medical Director of the Phase I Clinical Trials Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid and is integral to the Genitourinary and Neuroendocrine Tumors Unit and Thoracic and Central Nervous System Tumor Unit.

Dr. Ortego Zabalza's research centers on pioneering cancer therapeutics through first-in-human and first-in-class clinical trials. His work spans immunotherapy, cell therapy, antibody-drug conjugates, and targeted therapies, with extensive focus on genitourinary malignancies, neuroendocrine tumors, thoracic cancers, and central nervous system tumors. He has led or participated in over 120 phase I trials including principal investigator roles for novel agents like GEN1042.

He actively contributes to medical education as teaching collaborator at University of Navarra's Faculty of Medicine, Professor in their Master of Nursing in Oncohematology program, and teaching roles at Francisco de Vitoria University and San Pablo CEU University.
