Joshua R Anderson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at St. Olaf College, where he teaches courses in American Politics and American Political Thought. He is also affiliated with the Race and Ethnic Studies program.
His research explores the historical development of the social sciences in the nineteenth-century United States and examines how knowledge and expertise function within democratic political systems. Drawing from political theory and intellectual history, his work bridges disciplinary boundaries to understand the epistemic foundations of governance and civic life.
Joshua Anderson received his B.A. from Carleton College and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining St. Olaf College, he taught political theory and American politics at the University of Minnesota and Augsburg College for three years.
He maintains regular office hours Monday through Thursday from 12:45 PM to 1:30 PM in Holland Hall 420. His contact email is andersjr@stolaf.edu.
