Joshua Michal

Joshua Michal is Associate Professor of Horn at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. An active performer, he is a member of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and faculty at Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. His solo and ensemble work spans orchestral, chamber, and electroacoustic repertoire.

Michal has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Lyric Opera, and toured with Boston Brass. His pedagogy emphasizes technical mastery and contemporary performance practices, with upcoming recordings featuring world premieres for horn and electronics. He holds degrees from Indiana University, Northwestern University, and The Ohio State University.
