About
Josephine Berry is Research Lab Lecturer for the MA Culture Industry at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research examines the intersections of art, creative economies, and biopolitical theory.
Dr. Berry's monograph 'Art and (Bare) Life: A Biopolitical Inquiry' (Sternberg Press, 2018) analyzes how art's historical entanglement with life sciences informs contemporary neoliberal governance. Her forthcoming book 'Planetary Realism' (2025) explores environmental art's response to climate crisis.
Research interests include: the politics of aesthetic autonomy in gentrifying cities; posthumanist conceptions of creativity; and the biopolitical dimensions of artistic practices. She has published in e-flux Journal, New Formations, and edited collections on post-pandemic futures.
Dr. Berry teaches experimental research methods and supervises PhD students working on cultural politics, urban space, and artistic practice.
