Ergin Bulut is Senior Lecturer in Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. His research examines the political economy of cultural industries, video game production, and media under authoritarian regimes.
Dr. Bulut's ethnographic work explores labor conditions in creative industries, particularly the tensions between artistic autonomy and neoliberal precarity. His award-winning book 'A Precarious Game: The Illusion of Dream Jobs in the Video Game Industry' (Cornell, 2020) critically examines work cultures in game development studios.
Recent publications analyze platform governance in Turkey's television industry and the relationship between media, race, and state power in disinformation contexts. His research has appeared in Media, Culture & Society, Feminist Media Studies, and International Journal of Communication.
