Angela McRobbie is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is a renowned feminist social and cultural theorist, and a Fellow of the British Academy. Her research spans over four decades, focusing on the creative economy, fashion industry dynamics, gender studies, neoliberalism, and youth culture. She has authored influential works like Be Creative (2016), Feminism and the Politics of Resilience (2020), and contributed to seminal studies on popular culture and media.
Her academic career includes teaching and supervising over 20 PhD students, many of whom hold leading academic positions globally. She helped design MA programs in Culture Industries, Gender Media and Culture, and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths. McRobbie’s work has been translated into multiple languages and addresses intersections of gender, labor, and cultural production in neoliberal contexts.
