Josepha Wessels

Josepha Wessels is an Associate Professor in Media and Communication Studies at Malmö University's School of Arts and Communication (K3). Her work bridges academic research with documentary filmmaking, focusing on immersive technologies, participatory media, and social change. She specializes in migration, environmental issues, and human geography, with extensive fieldwork in Southwest Asia and North Africa. Current projects include climate resilience in Sudan and postmigrant cultural production in Sweden. Notable works include her book Documenting Syria: Film-making, Video Activism and Revolution and award-winning VR projects.
