Joseph Turner

Joseph Turner is an Associate Professor and English Honors Advisor at the University of Louisville's Department of English. He previously served as Director of Graduate Studies. His research focuses on premodern rhetoric, Chaucer's poetry, and comics studies, supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Folger Shakespeare Library. He teaches courses on rhetoric/poetics, premodern gender studies, and comics analysis.

Education: PhD and MA in English from the University of Delaware.

Research interests span medieval rhetorical theory, Chaucerian narrative techniques, and contemporary comics as cultural artifacts. His work bridges literary criticism with pedagogical innovation.

Publications explore intersections of ethics in Shakespeare, humor in medieval texts, and interdisciplinary approaches to graphic novels. Recent grants highlight his contributions to humanities research.
