Joseph Goldstein

Dr. Joseph Goldstein is Chairman of Molecular Genetics at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Regental Professor. He shared the Nobel Prize with Michael Brown for discoveries concerning cholesterol metabolism regulation.

Research examines:

• SREBP transcription factors
• LDL receptor pathway
• Cholesterol homeostasis mechanisms
• Regulated intramembrane proteolysis

Publications span cholesterol regulation, lipoprotein studies, and historical perspectives on cardiovascular research. Recent work analyzes Scap protein function and historical developments in cholesterol science.
