Jorrit Steehouder

Jorrit Steehouder is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University's Department of History and Art History within the College of Humanities. His research focuses on the history of European integration, monetary cooperation, and diplomacy, particularly in the interwar and post-WWII periods.

• Education: PhD in History (2022, Utrecht University), thesis on Constructing Europe (1919–1950).
• Research Themes: Emotional drivers of integration, governments-in-exile, EU institutional design, and historical parallels to modern crises.

His work on the Blueprints of Hope project (2016–2020) explored technocratic and emotional foundations of post-war European cooperation. He received the Henri Rieben Scholarship (2018) and secured a U.S. Embassy Special Grant (2017) for Marshall Plan commemoration events.
