Dr. Jorge Almodovar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland Baltimore County's College of Engineering and Information Technology. He directs the Polymeric Biomaterials Laboratory, specializing in engineered biomaterials for therapeutic applications.
His research develops polymeric platforms including layer-by-layer assemblies, electrospun nanofibers, and microneedle systems for tissue repair, cell manufacturing enhancement, and transdermal drug delivery. Current work establishes novel coatings for stem cell immunomodulation, microneedle patches for veterinary pain management, and nerve regeneration scaffolds.
