Jordan Fairbairn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at King's University College, Western University. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Carleton University, an MA in Sociology from the University of Guelph, and a BA (Honours) in Criminology from Carleton University.
Her research program examines gender-based violence through feminist criminological frameworks, with emphasis on femicide, intimate partner violence, media representations, and prevention strategies. Current projects analyze media framing of femicide and trauma conceptualizations in service provision.
Fairbairn's publications demonstrate sustained focus on violence prevention through media representation analysis, intersectionality frameworks, and digital activism. Her work consistently addresses structural factors in gender-based violence.
She contributes to major initiatives including the Canadian Femicide Observatory for Justice and Accountability (CFOJA) and the Canadian Domestic Homicide Prevention Initiative with Vulnerable Populations (CDHPIVP).
